Baseball B.C.’s Female Selects Program Vision, Mission and Values

Vision - We will achieve our highest potential in competition & life by creating an inspiring culture through mentorship, development, excellence, & fun.

Mission - Grow the game of baseball and encourage Long Term Athlete Development by providing female athletes a positive environment and a healthy state of mind.

Values - Passion, Respect, Motivation, Commitment, Honesty and openness, Fitness and health, Communication, Guidance, Relationships, Accountability, Character building, and Continuous improvement

Program Structure

This program is designed to attract all females 8 years & older.  Although based in the Lower Mainland, we offer & facilitate regional development sessions, such as grassroots festivals, clinics, ID camps & more throughout the province every year.  We strive to provide female athletes with a combination of competition and development in a fun all-female environment.  Currently, in addition to Grassroots, there are four competitive divisions or age groups in the BC Provincial Female Baseball Program that can accommodate out-of-towners, 14U, 16U, 21U and Women’s Open.  Each year, these divisions represent BC in National or Western Canadian Championships; with rosters full of dreams of wearing the Maple Leaf as members of Team Canada at events like the World Cup, Pan Am Games or maybe even the Olympics one day.  The program is driven by a five person committee and led by a Director of Player Development and a Liaison to Player Wellness and Rules.  Each team has NCCP qualified coaches that have been chosen by the program committee.

Season Structure

The spring season typically consists of regional festivals, clinics, camps, identification sessions & other events around the province, including weekly open development sessions & divisional practices in the Lower Mainland; teams also enter tournaments… Many athletes are playing with club teams in the spring, and although their priority should be to their club teams, value still resides in attending the skill development or Regional identification sessions when possible.  Primarily, the spring is to identify & develop female baseball players & promote the female game.

Weekly Monday evening Development Sessions are open to all interested females 11yrs & older, whether on a team or not and regardless of experience or skill level; these begin in April & continue throughout the season.

The summer season traditionally sees BC Select Female teams play in boy’s youth league play.  Divisional teams usually begin practicing on their own at this point, and game schedules can be set up on weekends to accommodate out of town players.  If teams qualify through league play, they can play in that league provincial tournament and/or participated as tournament hosts.

And then to complete the season in August, divisional Select Teams are chosen to represent British Columbia in National or Western Canadian Championships…!!!  Also of note is that many females from BC have been identified & selected to Canada’s Female National Program from these championships and go on to compete at World Cup’s, Pan Am Games, Etc.…

Each provincial team and its final roster will be named after a selection camp in July. It is mandatory to attend this Provincial Female Select Camp if athletes are interested in being chosen for Team BC.

More information and dates will be posted below as they become available...

"Great way to start the summer off ladies. There were a lot of great plays defensively great hits and some great pitching over the weekend. As always there are always some things we all need to work on. I am very proud of all of all you. Win or lose we show our smiles our laughter our team spirit and most importantly our love of the game. although we would like to win every game we play. We prove each and every-time that we are out as a team that we grasp the game of baseball and what it is really about. Getting together with friends and having some fun. In the big picture I say there is nothing wrong with that. Each game we are together as a group we get closer and closer as a team. Communication gets better, We are not so nervous etc. WAY TO GO LADIES.

Calling all U20 girls

Its time to start preparing for the Nationals and help the U16 Selects team at the same time. We practice every Wednesday and Friday at 6pm in Aldergrove (27th Ave. & 268thst https://www.google.com/maps/@49.0508113,-122.4816715,3240m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en . Your involvement is crucial as all the younger girls look up to you. This is your chance to give back and develop your skills at the same time. Going into the Nationals as host is a tough task. As sometimes a little added pressure is there as the host. So the more you work as a team the better it will be. As for the U16 team. Your skill set , work hard attitude and team spirit. Will not only help us jell as a team. But will help bring our skill set to where it needs to be. Our girls already have great abilities and attitudes . But with strong role models and mentors practicing along with them. Will help take us to the next level of play.
