Amanda Asay - Hall of Famer - 2025 and 2024

“I think of Amanda everyday so it was with tremendous pride to learn that she will be inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame. She would be, as I am, thrilled to know of this recognition of her commitment to the sport of baseball. Thanks so much,” Loris Asay, Amanda’s mother

“Amanda’s induction into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame is an incredible honour. Baseball Canada and the Hall have done Amanda so proud, much as she has, and continues to, make us her proud parents. It is truly hard at this point to process it all. To be included with baseball legends the likes of Russell Martin, Wayne Norton, Rusty Staub, Fergie Jenkins, Dave Stieb, Andre Dawson, Justin Morneau and Ashley Stephenson – one just can’t list all the baseball giants enshrined. It is, and will continue to be, a source of pride for the entire Asay family. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Selection Committee. Being a longtime fan of the Expos, Jays and National Teams I feel unbelievably privileged to have our daughter, Amanda, included with such an amazing collection of hugely talented athletes.” – George Asay, Amanda’s father

Amanda Asay, who left us January 7, 2022 after a skiing accident near Nelson, was a legendary multisport female athlete. Whether it was on the ball diamond, at the hockey rink or in the classroom, Asay gave it everything she had. Thus, for all of us fortuneate to have met her, even if only once, are not even the slightest surprised of Amanda's inductions into both the B.C. Sports & Prince George Hall of Fame's in 2024 for her accomplishments in baseball. It's truly heartening to see Amanda Asay's legacy honored in such a meaningful way. Her achievements in baseball and her impact as a mentor for young girls resonate deeply, showcasing her dedication not only to sports excellence but also to fostering inclusivity and empowerment. It's a testament to her character and the lasting impression she left on those she encountered. A beloved friend, a real pioneer & encouraging mentor for young girls in the truest sense. May her memory continue to inspire future generations of athletes. For more about Amanda, see below...

Info: Join Baseball BC and BC Girls Baseball at the 4th Annual Amanda Asay Jamboree! Celebrating girls' baseball and bringing everyone together were two things that our baseball friend Amanda did very well. The purpose of this one-day Jamboree is to continue that legacy and provide a space for young women and girls to thrive. While associations all over British Columbia work hard to grow the game, we hope to provide an opportunity for girls involved in those programs to come together for a fun jamboree-style tournament. Each team is guaranteed 3 games that are tailored to the needs of the athletes. Players need a tee? We've got it. Some ready to throw gas from the mound? We're ready for it! Please note: If you have any players with all-star, selects, post-season, summer ball (or similar) experience, please move them up a division (i.e. 8U advanced player to 10U and 10U advanced player to 12U).

Have an all-girls team ready to register? A couple of things to note. Our age groups are 8U, 10U, and 12U, which may be different from some leagues you play in. Please keep this in mind when you are forming your teams and be sure to register for the correct division! Each team registration will include 12 Amanda Asay Jamboree t-shirts, but your roster can be larger. Please provide t-shirt sizes in registration for 12 athletes. Any additional t-shirts requested will be $25 each.
