Baseball Canada to Broadcast National Championship Games

Aug. 1, 2007 - Baseball Canada will broadcast National Championship games via webcasts through its website. The National Championships will take place from August 8-12 and August 16-19 in Québec City.

The games that will be broadcast are those that will be played at the Stade Municipal in Québec City. The divisions scheduled to compete at the Stade Municipal will be the Midget, Junior and Senior men’s, as well as the Baseball Canada Cup.

Dunbar Little League Celebrates 50th Season

June 28, 2007 - This summer Dunbar Little League (DLL) will celebrate its 50th season by hosting the 2007 Littie League BC Majors' Provincial Tournament at Memorial Park West. The tournament, which includes 8 teams from around the province, will run from July 20-29 with four games a day until July 26, followed by playoff games and the provincial championship game on July 29. The winning team then goes to Regina for the Canadian Little League championships with the winner there going to Williamsport for the World Championships. more...

June 25, 2007 - Victoria's Mike Saunders has been selected to play in the 2007 Major League Baseball All-Star Futures Game. The multi-sport athlete growing up in British Columbia may have had a future in the NHL before choosing baseball. Whalley's Bob Ashmore passes

Apr. 17, 2007 - Baseball BC sends their condolances to the Whalley baseball family on the passing of longtime Whalley Stadium groundskeeper Bob Ashmore. Ashmore was a fixture at Whalley Stadium for many years and an inspiration to all as he worked daily on the stadium into his 90's. A service will be held at Valley View Memorial at 2pm on Tuesday, April 24th.

Baseball Canada's National Women's Baseball Team Open Try-out Camp

Mar. 7, 2007 - Baseball Canada with be conducting a try-out camp on March 26th 2007 in Vancouver, British Columbia. The purpose of the try-outs across the country is to evaluate potential National Team candidates to represent our Nation at the scheduled up-coming IBAF sanctioned World Cup of Women's Baseball Tournament.

All Women athletes, regardless of their affiliation and who are 15 years of age and older, are eligible to participate at this Open National Women's Team Try-out. There is no cost to participate at the camp. All interested athletes must Pre-Register by email.

Children's Fitness Tax Credit

Jan. 23, 2007 - The Government of Canada proposes to allow, starting in 2007, a non-refundable tax credit on eligible amounts of up to $500 paid by parents to register a child in an eligible program of physical activity.

The following is information about the proposed tax credit both for parents and for the organizations that provide eligible programs of physical activity. This information is based on legislation that has been tabled in the House of Commons but that has not yet become law.

While the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will administer the credit, organizations are in the best position to determine eligibility. The CRA will work with organizations in the coming months to assist them in determining whether a particular program qualifies. more...

Dec. 13, 2006 - The British Columbia Lottery Corporation is searching for photos of B.C. amateur athletes in action for the Homegrown Hero photo contest. The winners of the contest will receive $500 and the winning photos will be featured on an upcoming SportsFunder Instant Win ticket. Proceeds from the SportsFunder lottery games will be distributed by the provincial government to support Sport B.C.'s KidSport, Youth Travel, Coach Development and Team BC. more...

Announcing Premier Summer Collegiate Baseball League

Dec. 5, 2006 - The BC Premier League is pleased to announce the formation of its new summer collegiate baseball league.
Commencing this coming summer (2007), 4 teams, three on the lower mainland and one island team, will play a 36-40 game schedule including 24 league games plus exhibition games vs various summer teams in the Northwest. All returning BCPBL and CCBC college players are invited to apply. Baseball BC is named Province of the Year

Nov. 6, 2006 - Baseball BC was honoured at the 2006 Baseball Canada Awards Gala.  British Columbia won the province of the year award for the fourth time. Although they did not win any gold medals in this year’s various national championships, British Columbia had a very good year, finishing second overall in championship performance. The province won a silver medal in the Pee-Wee, Midget and Canada Cup events.

Also honoured at the event was Prince George's Amanda Asay who was given Baseball Canada’s women’s national team most valuable player award. more...

Sep. 28, 2006 - The first two hitters in Baseball Canada’s bronze medal-winning line-up at the World Junior Championships have been named to the tournament all-star team.

Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) is a systemic approach being developed and adopted by Baseball Canada to maximize a participant's potential and involvement in our sport. The LTAD framework aims to define optimal training, competition and recovery throughout an athlete's career to enable him / her to reach his / her full potential in baseball and as an athlete.
